“Ivy Paige, is my kind of girl!” John Water, Creator and Director of Hairspray & Pretty Flamingo.
Ivy Paige is a modern day diva who’ll break your heart and rock your world!
With her trademark red hair, her lyrics, music and stage presence, she’ll grab you by the heart and take you on an emotive and passionate journey.
“I find inspiration in many things, I once wore a shoe as a hat! I trained as an actress but writing and performing music always stole my heart. When I sing and write a song I want to captivate the audience and take them on the journey with me. I want my music, shows and outfits to entrance, enthrall and entertain”. Says Ivy Paige.
Ivy began her career studying theatre at Dartington College of Arts, in the picturesque and beautiful area of Totnes, Devon, a place she still calls her “Spiritual home”. She
was awarded a singing scholarship and continued to develop her musical and vocal talent. Set amongst the rolling hills of Devon, Ivy found much inspiration and began to write and play original music. This inspired Ivy to create theatrical stage shows to showcase her music. It was during this exciting period that Ivy developed and explored a mirage of ideas and began to shape herself into the singing artist she is today. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts First Class Honors Degree in Theatre in 2003 and left Devon with a trail of Swarovski crystals in her wake!
The feisty redhead has a powerful and distincitve voice. 'Inside the Music Box' is the debut album from celebrated Burlesque star turned singer, Ivy Paige. The album spans genres, ranging from jazzy, blues inspired ballads, to up-tempo rock pop with a hint of punk. The singles are fiercely original with a bold identity.
The first single, ‘Inside the Music Box’, has the feel of a Souxsie and the Banshees / Blondie number, the song is upbeat, with punk undertones and packs a real punch. ‘I feel’ tells the story of unfounded love and delivers a haunting melody, with ambient, folksy undercurrents. ‘The Queen of Hearts’ is a bond style ballad that is loosely based on a ‘dark’ version of Alice in Wonderland – the song is passionate, evocative and will transport you to an imaginary world.
Ivy works alongside long time musical collaborator, Pete Saunders (former member of Dexys Midnight Runners). “I am very fortunate to work with someone like Pete, who understands what I mean when the words can’t quite describe it. Our writing relationship is very organic. It might begin with my lyrics or a melody Pete has been working on. We take an idea and let it grow. This is how oursongs come to life.”
Ivy Paige has been dubbed as one of “The new queens of British Burlesque” by The Mail on Sunday and by her own admission cites Burlesque as a huge source of inspiration. She has directed and produced several successful Burlesque Theatre Shows.
“The Burlesque scene has given me the platform to combine my skills as a Musician and Performance Artist with the glamour and style that burlesque brings. “
As a presenter, Ivy has a sassy and witty rapport with audiences across the globe. She has presented and hosted shows on The West End Stages, including Comedy Awards, London Burlesque Week and supported John Waters on his UK Tour. Ivy has hosted large scale corporate events nationally and internationally.
One thing is guaranteed – this redhead will continue to break your heart and rock your world.
